(13 August, 2009): As you know, yesterday afternoon the CEPU lodged its application for a protected industrial action ballot of its members in Australia Post.

Fair Work Australia notified us yesterday afternoon that the hearing would be held in Sydney today at 3.30pm - you can read the straight-forward notice here.

  • This is the protected industrial action we are seeking your approval for... here

If their latest Staff Information Bulletin is anything to go by, we can expect Australia Post to oppose the ballot application.

Besides our plans for action being broadcast on radio across the country, there's been media coverage via the following outlets:

What next?

After a few days of hearings, FWA will make a decision on the application.

You will only have a few short days to make any last updates to our membership lists - only to correct held record details eg addresses etc.

These lists will be submitted to the Australian Electoral Commission, which is the body likely to independently run the ballot.

When will the ballot be held?

If FWA approves the ballot going ahead, then the timetable needs to be discussed with the AEC - but we'll let you know as soon possible.

What can I do today?
