(9 December, 2009): The CEPU has received support from an unexpected quarter as we take on the "monopoly mentality" of Australia Post.
Industry group the Major Mail Users of Australia - that represent over 85% of of bulk mail lodgement - issued a note to its members updating them on our problems with Australia Post.
We quote directly from their recent bulletin:
"The Union has been treated with the type of disdain dished out by the AP monopoly mentality that MMUA has been subjected to for the
past 5-years"
It also goes on to dismiss Post management's crude attempt to belittle the voice of our members in their recent protected action ballot.
"...non-compulsory voting and they get 60% voting! Doesn't matter what AP-LETTERS says, that is an excellent industrial relations result."
The CEPU has been in contact with MMUA for quite some time.
We - and our members - value their support of the postal service.
And we have indicated to them we would like to minimise the impacts as much as we can - and will let them know about action that might be of interest to them.
The MMUA isn't buying into the dispute - but they can see similarities between the way they have been treated by current management and they way the CEPU and its members have been treated.
